FAIR Connect 1.2.1 Release Announcement

FAIR Connect 1.2.1 is a maintenance release that addresses several bugs and introduces a few new features. This release is fully backward compatible with version 1.1.

Bug fixes

  • Metadata access fix — Resolved an issue where plugin metadata was not being read correctly in certain hosting environments, causing display errors in the plugin directory.
  • Modal fix — Fixed a rendering issue with the plugin detail modal that could cause it to display incorrectly on smaller screens or when certain other plugins were active.
  • Naming changes — Completed the transition from legacy naming conventions, ensuring all references in the UI and codebase use the new FAIR Connect, FAIR Beacon, and FAIR Explorer names consistently.

New features

  • Directory hashing — Added integrity verification through directory hashing, enabling detection of unauthorized modifications to installed plugins. This uses a fast hashing algorithm to compare the installed files against the expected state from the repository.
  • Update preservation — When updating FAIR Connect itself, user settings and configurations are now properly preserved across updates. Previously, some custom configurations could be reset during the update process.

Compatibility

FAIR Connect 1.2.1 is fully backward compatible with version 1.1. No configuration changes are required when upgrading. All existing FAIR Beacon repositories and AspireCloud connections will continue to work without modification.
