FAIR Plugin 1.1 Release Announcement
FAIR Plugin 1.1 is the first update in our new 6-week release cycle. This cadence ensures a steady stream of improvements while giving the community time to test and adopt each release.
WP-CLI DID support
You can now manage Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) directly from the command line using WP-CLI. This includes commands for registering, verifying, and listing DIDs associated with your site. This is particularly useful for automated deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
Update dates
The plugin directory now displays when each plugin was last updated, making it easier to identify actively maintained packages. This information is pulled from the FAIR repository metadata and updated automatically during sync.
Modal tabs
The plugin detail modal has been redesigned with a tabbed interface, organizing information into logical sections: Overview, Details, Reviews, and Changelog. This makes it easier to find the information you need without scrolling through a long page.
Avatar handling
Plugin author avatars are now properly fetched and displayed throughout the interface. The system supports both Gravatar and custom avatars uploaded to FAIR repositories, with local caching to minimize external requests.
Browser list integration
FAIR Plugin now uses Browserslist for browser compatibility checks, replacing the legacy Browse Happy service. This provides more accurate, up-to-date browser data without sending user information to external services.
FAIR directory link
A direct link to the FAIR package directory has been added to the WordPress admin, making it easy for users to discover and browse available packages from within their dashboard.
Custom assets
Plugin banners, icons, and screenshots can now be served from FAIR repositories, giving developers full control over their plugin's visual presentation without depending on wordpress.org infrastructure.
